Online Quiz

Grade: Fourth Grade

Objective: Students will be able to correctly identify the five acronyms from the test after the completion of the test during class.

Description: We will have been talking about acronyms and correct language usage online. We will also be talking about “text lingo” and slang and when to use and when not to use those words. The assessment will be given out after we have started our lesson on acronyms but not at the very end of the lesson. This assessment is a check-in point to see whether progress has or has not been made. Most of the acronyms on the quiz are real life examples; there might be one or two my students might now know about but we would talk about them in our Current Issues daily talk.

Rational: I chose to use QuizBox (http://www.quizbox.com/builder/) because when looking for quiz making sites this one seemed very easy to use and accommodate for what I was wanting. I believe using this site will help enhance my lesson by being a quick, easily observable quiz that will show me how or if students are understanding the acronyms we are practicing.

Access: Just click on the link at the top of the page. It should take you directly to the quiz. Once you are done answering the questions just click “Finish” and you can see your results. If you get 100% hearts will fly on the page.

Opinion: The tricky part about this site is that it doesn’t save the quiz you make on the website’s database, you have to save the quiz to your own website or as a webpage. I had to save my quiz a few different times with different formats to see which would work the way I wanted it to work.

**To save the quiz you make on this website, it worked best for me when I clicked File > Save Page As > ‘Folder’ > and then saved it as ‘Webpage, Complete’ in the Save As Type selection box. It DOES NOT work if you simply copy and paste the URL. That will take you back to the beginning step of making and formatting your quiz.

Rain Rain Go Away

Rain…

– is refreshing

– is exciting

– is pooring

– is exhilarating

– is wonderful

– is beautiful

– is relaxing

I’m sure I could’ve came up with more words about how I describe rain but I wanted to leave some up to your imagination. Every girl’s dream is to be kissed by the man she loves in a downpour. There’s just something magic about it that I can’t explain; it makes everything disappear. It may also have something to do with the love story from The Notebook. Every little kid’s dream is to put on some cute rain boots, or in my case no shoes at all, and go out and jump into the middle of a big puddle splashing it all away with a huge smile on their face. Now some people may not love rain as much as me, I don’t like the thunderstorms that sometimes accompany the rain, but we should all appreciate it!

Go splash all your worries away,

Daydreaming

“I was trying to daydream, but my mind kept wandering.”  ~Steven Wright

Daydreaming is when you lose yourself in your thoughts. Your world turns into this cloud and all your thoughts turn into the wind whispering differernt ideas into your mind.

People can daydream about many different things, people they like; who they are going to hang out with later that day, that week, or that month; what their ideal vacation would be; what they would do if they won the lottery; etc.

Places to daydream are many. You can daydream on vacation; on a busy day in the office; anytime when you’re in a class; while walking to class (watch out for that tree!!); while sitting at your desk, writing your parents a letter home or while writing down your to-do list (as I would be doing).

Some people can imagine themselves far, far away with that really cute guy from Biology class; sipping champagne from their lottery winnings; eating a deluxe room service meal in a five star hotel with a view of the ocean surrounded by ten of their closest friends and NOT having to worry about who, how, or when they are going to pay for that luxury.

Everyone daydreams at leasat once per day, it’s sometimes just a happening of life. If you catch yourself daydreaming, don’t get off the cloud or put a jacket on to hide yourself from the wind that is blowing; embrace it because some of your great ideas can come from your daydreams.

Sometimes you just need to sit back and dream~whether it be day or night.
